Hobby Workshop

           The NES Science College, Nanded has its own well-equipped central hobby workshop, which is attached to the department of physics. College is making use of this workshop since last 22 years, for designing, fabricating and repairing of the equipments.

i) The workshop is having the following equipments:
           

Lathe Machine, Drill Machine, Bend Saw, Welding Machine, Bench Grinder, Cable Hand Grinder, Electric Hand Drill Machine, Shear Cutter with all necessary tools. In addition to this we have 3 cameras with flashguns, enlarge machine, 5-focus stands.
The workshop facilities are utilized to design various experiments to develop skill and entrepreneurship in learners.


ii) Following equipments have been assembled in this workshop.

 
  1. Microwave spectrometer - This equipment is assembled indigenously with the help of available expertise in the workshop. Microwave spectrometer is used to study various parameters of horn antenna, phenomenon of reflection, refraction, Brag’s law at microwave frequencies.
  2. Fiber Optical bench - This equipment is designed and development by altering the discarded bench which was used for light experiments. This device is used to perform about 8-10 experiments at PG level.
  3. Dielectric cell - The dielectric cell is exclusively designed and fabricated in this workshop for interdisciplinary research activities in the field of dielectrics. This device is useful for determining dielectric properties, thermodynamic properties of agricultural products, organic compounds, and medicinal plant material in solid and liquid form. One candidate has completed his Ph.D. with the use of this equipment and three more students are working with this device for their Ph. D. degree.

The workshop facilities are also used for the completion of project work and repairing of various instruments in laboratories of different subjects like chemistry, botany, zoology etc.

iii) Photographic Unit: The workshop has a photographic unit with three cameras, a developing unit to learn the basic skill of photography.

Glass Blowing Unit
           Glass blowing unit is attached to Department of Chemistry. It is a part of hobby workshop. It is being used for the fabrication of some simple glass apparatus and also for repairing work of glass equipments. This facility is often used for moulding glass tubes in regular practics.
